It has been a busy year for the LEC Officers and our ALR and I wanted to provide a recap of happenings and accomplishments that have taken place at Local 11. The Joint Advisory Council (JAC) was held in Tampa, Florida this past month. While there, we were introduced to representatives of the newest members to AMFA from Spirit, Sun Country Airlines, as well as a representative from L3 in Canada.
In April, AMFA Local 11 member Rob Cush from Maintenance Control accepted the position as Governmental Affairs Liaison for AMFA. He is actively promoting the Political Action Committee (PAC) which is a voice for aircraft mechanics that allows us to legally connect with our elected US Representatives in Congress. I encourage each one of you to contact Rob with questions regarding the PAC and how to join.
In June, Local 11 LEC and 45 members showed their support and participated in SWAPA’s Informational Picketing in Dallas.
Updates from your Local Executive Officers:
The Welfare and the LEC approved 5 Welfare Requests, one active member that passed away and several members who retired in 2022.
Local 11 had three college scholarship winners: Hayden Hackett, Brooke Bentley, and Kimberly Tan!
General Monthly Meetings will be conducted virtually unless specifically required.
The committee for contract proposals will convene in January of 2023.
We have managed to keep our cost expenditures in check for 2022.
Safety and Standards:
Mules and Golf Carts at the line are now on rotating PM Checks. Tire Carts and tires at the Line are in one location now. The Hangar PA System should be operational in January of 2023.
Technical Instructor Kevin Johnson was sworn in on Wednesday, December 14 as the new Area Representative for the Technical Instructors. The Appearance Technicians ratified their new contract.
Pete renewed the Local 11 website to functionally bring it in line with the other Locals and with AMFA National. To date, half of Local 11's covered members are registered to receive communications from the Local. Please encourage everyone around you to register with amfa11.com to stay up to date.
On behalf of the entire Local Executive Council, thank you for your dedication and integrity to our craft. May you and your family have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Dale P. Dixon, President AMFA Local 11
