It is that time again to submit contract proposals. If you have not registered online with the Official AMFA Local 11 website, please do so now. Your submission of proposals is a useful tool for the negotiation process. It is imperative that your contract negotiation committee can feel the pulse of the floor. I have heard great input, but we need that in writing, so please submit the proposals. This is the best opportunity to enhance your standard of living, increase your benefits in a positive way, or improve your work rules. The amount of proposals also holds significance as to what’s most important to our workgroup. So, if the vast majority is pay, or 4 overs, or line premium, or health benefits, then put it in, submit it, Nothing is untouchable at this point. Please seriously submit your wants/needs.
FMT 2027 Contract Proposal Timeline
1. Post notice on all bulletin boards and on web sites that Local 4, 11, 18 and 32 will be accepting contract proposals for the upcoming 2026 negotiations with Southwest Airlines. In the posting it will outline where the contract proposal forms will be available at each local and the process for submitting them. Local 4, 11, 18 and 32 shall call for Local Proposal Evaluation Committee volunteers and post volunteer signup sheets.
2. Have Southwest Airlines FMT contract proposal forms available to the Southwest Facility Technician members for their completion.
3. Confirmation of members for the Southwest Airlines Proposal Evaluation Committees.
4. - Contract Proposal submission to Local President Deadline. The Local Presidents will submit the proposals to the Locals Proposal Evaluation Committee. The committees shall combine similar proposals and assign tracking numbers to each proposal then returns the proposal package to the Local Presidents (by the TBD date below).
5. Local Proposal Evaluation Committees must return the proposal package to the Local Presidents.
6. Local 4, 11, 18 & 32 Presidents will schedule a special meeting for the purpose of endorsing, or not, the submitted proposals to be taken forward in the proposal process.
7. Proposal Evaluation Committees convenes to draft the endorsed proposals from Local 4, 11, 18 and 32 into a Proposal Survey List. This committee will work with AMFA National Administration in creating the proposal survey form that will be mailed to the membership.
8. Date TBD - Deadline for system wide mail-out to the membership for prioritization of proposals.
9. Date TBD - Deadline for proposal prioritization ballot return.
10. Date TBD - Contract Negotiation Committee must be formed by this date, reference AMFA National Constitution Article XXIII, Section 3, A pg. 95. Contract Negotiating Committee.
11. Date TBD - Final, prioritized proposal package ready for the Negotiating Committee, which must convene no later than this date per the AMFA National Constitution Article XXIII, Sec. 2 pg. 95. Contract Negotiations Conference.
12. July, 2026 - Negotiation Committee begins to draft the Section 6 Proposal which will be submitted to the NMB and Southwest Airlines when negotiations commence.
